Our motorbike travel in UkraineThe idea of a motorbike travel in Ukraine was of a couple of friends of ours, and the group of partecipanting drivers was quite big. The girls who was the planner and the organizer is from Lvov, and for sure that made us easier to study and realize the trip.
We decided to drive nightly to reach Vienna in Austria as soon as possibile; from Austria we reached Ukraine passing through Budapest and Kosice. Our first step in Ukraine is Lvov, that is a very nice city; but crossing the border we could not avoid to notice how this country is still poor and how the citizen have to sacrifice themselves to make a living... The difference between cities and countryland is really remarkable....in the countryland there is only one sealed road, and the villages spread from the main road and are reachable with many Km of gravel roads...and people don't have cars.... It's like being in a movie of the past... We cross the big plains and visit Odessa and Kherson, and we reach the Crimea Peninsula, as far as Yalta. We stopped two days also in Kiev, a city that is very similar to other european bigi cities... We will remeber Ukraine mainly for the people we met...maybe poor people, but proud, that does not ask for anything and instead generously offer everything they have. We have a lot to learn... On the way back we stopped in Poland to visit Cracow and the sadly famous concentration camp of Auschwitz |
